THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 22, 2009) – The Maritime volleyball team defeated New Rochelle, 3-0, on Tuesday at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium. With the win, the Privateers improve to an even 2-2 on the season, while the Blue Angels fall to 3-2.
Sophomore Natalie Jackson, who was named to the Skyline Conference Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, recorded a double-double with match highs in assists (21) and digs (15), while freshman Lauren Johnson led all players with 13 kills and six service aces to go along with four digs. Junior libero Natalie Warren registered 10 digs in the victory, while senior Marissa Danzy chipped in with five aces, four kills and a match-high two blocks, both assisted with freshman Jerrica Romero, who tallied four kills and seven digs.
The scores of the match were 25-20, 25-14 and 25-20.
Maritime takes the hardwood next on the road, when the Privateers travel to Brooklyn, N.Y. to take on Medgar Evers on Thursday, Sept. 24. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
