THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2009) – The Maritime hockey team lost to St. Thomas Aquinas, 4-1, on Saturday in a home game at the Parkwood Sports Complex in Great Neck. The Privateers fall to 2-3 (1-3 inter-division) with the loss, while the Spartans improve to 5-0.
Maritime got on the board first at 16:50 of the opening period, when senior Patrick Ferrie (Point Pleasant, N.J./Desales) beat the St. Thomas goalie, the goal was assisted by freshmen James McManus (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) and Sean Dougherty (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East). The Spartans scored four unanswered goals, however – one in the first, two in the second and an empty-netter at the end of the game – to capture the victory.
The Privateers return to the ice this Saturday, Nov. 7, when they take on Suffolk at 8:15 p.m. at the Parkwood Sports Complex.
