THROGGS NECK, NY – Sophomore
Nick Uzakewicz (Hauppauge, NY) of the Maritime College men's lacrosse team has been chosen as the Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week. He tallied nine points in two games last week, including the 100
th of his career.
Uzakewicz entered Wednesday's game at Manhattanville with 99 career points, and he reached the milestone with a goal that tied the contest at 4-4 late in the first half. That tally sparked a game-ending 8-1 run, as the Privateers started Skyline play with an 11-5 victory over the Valiants. Uzakewicz finished with two goals and three assists in the win. Then on Friday in Maritime's non-conference finale at Stevens, he posted his first hat trick of the season while adding an assist.
Last season, Uzakewicz set a program record with 47 assists and was named Skyline Rookie of the Year. He received four Skyline Rookie of the Week nods in 2025. Uzakewicz joins
Ryan Hannaford (Bayport, NY), who notched his 100
th career point in the Stevens game, as Skyline Player of the Week selections this season. Hannaford was recognized on Feb. 23.
Thomas McCarvill (Port Washington, NY) has also received Skyline Rookie of the Week honors twice (Feb. 23, March 16).
The Privateers (3-7, 1-0 Skyline) play three of their next four contests at Reinhart Field, starting with a 7 p.m. matchup against Mount St. Mary (3-6, 1-0 Skyline) on Wednesday.
