PURCHASE, NY – After playing seven of its first eight at home, the Maritime College men's soccer team began a span where it plays four out of five on the road by visiting Purchase on Tuesday night. The Privateers (5-2-2, 1-2-2 Skyline) picked up points for the second straight game by battling the Panthers (4-6-1, 1-3-1 Skyline) to a 0-0 draw at Purchase College Soccer Field. It was Maritime's first scoreless tie since Oct. 9, 2024 at Yeshiva.
The Privateers had two quality scoring chances late in the first half.
Finn Richmond's (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) attempt was saved each time, though, keeping the game deadlocked. Maritime nearly found a goal in the 85
th minute, but
Jude Callan (Centerport, NY) had his shot stopped by Purchase keeper Luca Valeriano. Valeriano then made one last save on
PJ Kakalos (Merrick, NY) in the 87
th minute, preserving the 0-0 result.
Augusto Lebron (Valley Stream, NY) (5-2-2) tallied four saves in his second clean sheet of the season. He blanked the Panthers for the second consecutive year and was credited with his 11
th career shutout. Valeriano (2-2-1) recorded six saves for Purchase.
On Saturday, Maritime returns to action with a 12 p.m. matchup at Old Westbury (3-5-0, 1-2-0 Skyline). The contest will immediately precede the women's game between the Privateers and Panthers.
