Maritime Posts Historic Offensive Output Against Bard

THROGGS NECK, NY – Eight different players scored for the Maritime College women's lacrosse team on Tuesday, as the Privateers (2-2) set a program record for goals in a 23-3 victory over Bard (0-4) at Reinhart Field.  Gabrielle Nicolosi (West Islip, NY) assisted on seven of those tallies to become Maritime's all-time leader in that category.

Nicolosi's first assist came just 19 seconds into the contest, when Kiera Ford (Montgomery, NY) found the back of the net.  She added another helper at the 12:27 mark of the first quarter, then, after Emerson Embrey put the Raptors on the board, the Privateers ended the period with four straight goals to build a 6-1 cushion.  Eva Garcia (Rockville Centre, NY) scored with four seconds left in the second quarter to extend Maritime's advantage to 13-2 at halftime.

With an assist—her fifth of the game—on Morgan Tracy's (Cambridge, MD) tally 48 seconds into the second half, Nicolosi passed Avery Jillson Neuwirth for the program's career lead.  She currently has 112 total assists.

The Privateers outscored Bard 6-0 in the third quarter to increase the margin to 19-2.  Tracy then found the back of the net at the 12:25 mark of the fourth quarter for her 100th career goal.  After Gia DiToma (North Syracuse, NY) put home a free position shot with 3:08 remaining, Garcia scored Maritime's record-tying 23rd goal with 1:45 left.  The 23 goals matched the Privateers' output against Purchase on April 15, 2022.

Tracy finished with five goals, an assist and 10 draw controls.  Garcia also scored five times, while Ford had three goals, five ground balls and four caused turnovers.  Michelle Pecoraro (Kings Park, NY) posted a hat trick of her own, and Nicolosi added two goals and four ground balls to her seven assists.  Paige Grider (Oak Ridge, NJ) tallied five points on two goals and three assists to go along with three ground balls.  Mary Cirelli (Oreland, PA), meanwhile, found the back of the net twice and controlled four draws.  In addition to picking up four ground balls, Tori Koenig (Roxbury, NJ) (2-2) made eight saves.

Embrey recorded two of the Raptors' three goals and assisted on the other.  She also notched four draw controls.  Morgan Ruhle led Bard with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers.  The Raptors used three goalkeepers, with starter Lexie Blackburn (0-2) being credited with 11 saves and taking the loss.

On Friday, Maritime returns to action by hosting Lycoming (3-2) at 4 p.m.  It will be the first-ever meeting between the Privateers and Warriors.
