Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Record-Setting Day For Nicolosi In Win Over Ramapo

MAHWAH, NJ – Gabrielle Nicolosi (West Islip, NY) made Maritime College women's lacrosse history on Saturday afternoon.  She set single-game program records for assists (9) and points (15) while also becoming the Privateers' all-time points leader in an 18-6 victory over Ramapo (3-1) at the Ramapo Athletic Center Turf Field.  Nicolosi had a hand in 15 of the 18 goals for Maritime (1-1) in the win.

After the Roadrunners opened the scoring, Nicolosi found the back of the net four times and assisted on Mary Cirelli's (Oreland, PA) goal, as the Privateers built a 6-1 lead.  Maritime held an 11-4 edge at halftime before increasing its advantage to 14-4 on Nicolosi's tally at the 9:51 mark of the third quarter.  That goal was her 248th career point, moving her past Krista Deleva for the all-time program record.

Ramapo responded with two straight goals to pull within 14-6.  However, the Privateers ended the game on a 4-0 run, with Nicolosi assisting on each tally.  Her last assist was her ninth, breaking the single-game school mark of eight that she previously shared with Avery Jillson Neuwirth.  Nicolosi also surpassed her own record of 13 points, which she set against Mitchell on March 29, 2022.

Morgan Tracy (Cambridge, MD) had five goals of her own to go along with five draw controls.  Michelle Pecoraro (Kings Park, NY) finished with three goals and an assist, while Cirelli scored twice.  She added three ground balls and three draw controls.  Mia Brandenstein (West Islip, NY) gathered a team-best six ground balls, and Tori Koenig (Roxbury, NJ) (1-1) was credited with seven saves.

Erin Smeilus scored twice and controlled five draws for the Roadrunners.  In addition to recording two goals, Bethany Glaser contributed three ground balls and three draw controls.  Lauren Travaglini, meanwhile, had six draw controls, three ground balls and three caused turnovers.  Ramapo goalkeeper Daniella Indomenico (3-1) made seven saves.

Up next for Maritime is a 4 p.m. visit to Eastern Connecticut (2-0) next Saturday.  It will be the first-ever meeting between the Privateers and Warriors.
