THROGGS NECK, NY – On Wednesday, the Maritime College men's and women's swimming & diving teams began their home schedule by taking on Baruch at Riesenberg Aquatics Center. The Privateer men fell to the Bearcats by a 111-84 count, while Baruch earned a 100-63 victory over the Maritime women.
Rowan Hayes (Floral Park, NY) won both of his individual events. He posted a time of 47.42 seconds in the 100 yard freestyle and had a 58.03-second clocking in the 100 yard breaststroke. Hayes was also on the Privateers' 200 yard medley relay squad that finished second in 1:48.56. Joining him in the relay were

Cannon Sharo-Cocca (Seaside Park, NJ) and
Johnny Walz (Staten Island, NY).
Matt Klimek (Malverne, NY) grabbed second place in the 1000 yard freestyle (12:10.38), then added another second-place showing in the 500 yard freestyle (5:31.97).
Alex Osypenko (Oyster Bay, NY) won the 500 freestyle in 5:31.97 and placed second behind Hayes in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.09).
In the women's 100 yard freestyle,
Oceana Elefante (Sayville, NY) finished second with a time of 1:03.42 to go along with her victory in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:24.39).
Kirsten Argueta (Englewood, NJ) was first in the 100 yard backstroke (1:32.64), while Maritime went 2-3 in the 50 yard freestyle.
Kristen Carroll (New York, NY) posted a time of 28.36 seconds, and
Madeline Powers (Atlantic Beach, NY) recorded a 30.92-second clocking.
Emily Bryant (Hilliard, OH) added a second-place effort in the 100 yard butterfly (1:23.37).
The Privateers return to action on Tuesday, when William Paterson visits Riesenberg Aquatics Center at 6 p.m.
