Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Maritime Cruises Past St. Joseph’s Brooklyn On Senior Day

THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College men's soccer team wrapped up its home schedule by welcoming St. Joseph's Brooklyn to Reinhart Field on Saturday.  The Privateers (8-4-3, 3-4-3 Skyline) honored their six seniors—Jude Callan (Centerport, NY), George Kanellopoulos (Bayside, NY), Augusto Lebron (Valley Stream, NY), Jake Rodriguez (Nanuet, NY), Justin Song (Syosset, NY) and Chris Vazquez (Woodhaven, NY)—before the game, then went on to dominate the Bears (1-13-1, 1-8-1 Skyline) in a 5-0 victory.

It took just five minutes for Maritime to get on the board.  Jonathan Toma (Massapequa, NY) sent a long pass down the left side that Jeferson Blanco (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) finished for his sixth goal in the Privateers' last five games.  Blanco added another tally early in the second half when he weaved his way through the St. Joseph's Brooklyn defense, drew the keeper out, and put it into the empty net.

In the 55th minute, Maritime increased its lead to 3-0 on a Callan goal.  Callan then picked up an assist in the 60th minute after placing a corner kick perfectly into the box for Georgios Tsatalios (Athens, Greece) to tap home.  Finn Richmond (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) wrapped up the scoring with an 82nd-minute boot.  The 5-0 victory was the Privateers' first over the Bears since the 2019 season.  The 2019 campaign also marked the last time Maritime had eight wins on the year.

With his two goals, Blanco now has seven on the season, moving him into a tie for the team lead.  Callan's tally was his fourth, while Tsatalios found the back of the net for the third time in 2025.  Richmond has now scored in back-to-back games and three times this year.

Lebron (8-4-3) played 66 minutes in his final home start and made one save.  St. Joseph's Brooklyn goalkeeper Matthew Galetta (0-5-1), meanwhile, was credited with 12 saves in a losing effort.  Overall, the Privateers outshot the Bears 40-1, including a 17-1 edge in shots on goal.

On Wednesday, Maritime wraps up the regular season by visiting Farmingdale (4-8-4, 3-3-4 Skyline) at 6 p.m.  The Privateers are currently tied with Old Westbury for sixth place in the Skyline Conference and need at least a tie against the Rams to have any chance of qualifying for the Skyline Tournament.
