HONG KONG – Maritime College Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Justin Manjares served as the head coach for Team Philippines at the 2024 World Lacrosse Super Sixes – Hong Kong.  The Philippines earned the silver medal in the tournament, which was held from Dec. 13-15 at the Aberdeen Sports Ground in Hong Kong.

Five teams participated in the event.  After defeating Germany, 19-15, in its opening game, the Philippines lost to FOGO Stealers, a team from Japan, 24-15.  The Philippines then won its next two contests against China (24-8) and Hong Kong (20-8) to finish 3-1 in round robin play.  That record put the Philippines in a three-way tie for first place with FOGO Stealers and Germany.

FOGO Stealers held the tiebreaker and advanced directly to the gold medal game, while the Philippines and Germany met in the semifinal.  The showdown went into overtime, with the Philippines notching a 17-16 victory to move into the final.  In the gold medal game, the Philippines dropped a 21-19 decision against FOGO Stealers to finish as the silver medalists.

This was the second edition of the World Lacrosse Super Sixes, which is recognized by World Lacrosse as the highest level of international competition in the 6-on-6 version of the sport.  The Philippines finished last in the inaugural World Lacrosse Super Sixes – Hong Kong in 2023 before improving to second place at the 2024 tournament.

When lacrosse returns to the Olympics for the first time since 1908 at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles, it will be in the 6-on-6 format.  While the qualification process is yet to be determined, the primary Olympic qualifying event will likely be the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships.
