THROGGS NECK, NY – Ten different players scored for the Maritime College women's lacrosse team on Friday, as the Privateers (5-2, 2-0 Skyline) matched a season-high for goals in a 21-2 win over Purchase (1-6, 0-2 Skyline) at Reinhart Field. The 19-goal margin of victory was Maritime's largest since 2022.
Emily Commodore (Tinton Falls, NJ) found the back of the net just 1:23 into the game, and the Privateers had a 12-0 lead after the first quarter.
Gabrielle Nicolosi (West Islip, NY) had a hand in eight of those tallies, then picked up a ninth point when she scored at the 11:51 mark of the second quarter.
Mary Cirelli (Oreland, PA) added a pair of free position goals before
Kiera Ford (Montgomery, NY) increased Maritime's advantage to 17-0 at halftime.
After the Panthers notched a pair of third-quarter goals,
Alana Jimenez's (East Meadow, NY) first career tally made it a 19-2 game.
Gia DiToma (Syracuse, NY) got in on the scoring 14 seconds into the fourth quarter, and
Tori Gay (Whiteford, MD) became the 10
th Privateer to put one home in the 21-2 victory. The 19-goal triumph was Maritime's largest since defeating Purchase 23-4 in the Panthers' last visit to Reinhart Field on April 15, 2022.
Nicolosi finished with four goals and five assists, while
Jenna Lesiewicz (Wading River, NY) tallied seven points on three goals and four assists. She also led the team with eight draw controls and four ground balls.
Avery Jillson Neuwirth (Croton-On-Hudson, NY) had three goals and three assists, and
Morgan Tracy (Cambridge, NY) registered three goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Ford, meanwhile, notched six draw controls to go along with three ground balls.
Tori Koenig (Roxbury, NJ) (5-2) was credited with three saves in the win.
Purchase's goals were scored by Alyssa Kozak and Julieth Velasquez. Velasquez also controlled htree draws. In addition to making eight saves, Amani Jamal (1-6) collected a team-best five ground balls for the Panthers.
Up next for the Privateers is a 4 p.m. matchup at Farmingdale (3-7, 0-1 Skyline) on Tuesday. The contest was originally scheduled for April 3, but was postponed due to weather.
