Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Reilly Ties Two School Records In Rout of St. Joseph’s LI

THROGGS NECK, NY – It was a record-tying night for Parker Reilly (West Islip, NY) of the Maritime College men's lacrosse team on Friday.  Reilly equaled the single-game program marks for goals (8) and points (12), as the Privateers (6-4, 2-0 Skyline) cruised to a 21-2 victory over St. Joseph's LI (0-6, 0-1 Skyline) at Reinhart Field.

After Charles Gerace (Rocky Point, NY) scored the first three goals of the game, Reilly played in part in four of Maritime's next seven tallies.  He found the back of the net three times and assisted on two others to help the Privateers build a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.  Reilly then had a four-goal second quarter, including a score with 33 seconds left until halftime that extended Maritime's advantage to 18-0.

Tallies by Ryan Brice (Wall, NJ) and Gerace made it 20-0 before Connor Owenburg got the Golden Eagles on the board at the 10:39 mark of the third quarter.  Reilly immediately responded, though, with his eighth goal of the game, tying his career-high, as well as a school record he shares with three others.  It was also his 12th point of the night, matching the total Charles Longo (Bellport, NY) had last season in a win over Manhattanville.  The record-setting score proved to be the Privateers' final goal of the contest, as Owenburg found the back of the net one more time for St. Joseph's LI to account for the final margin.

Reilly, who now has 38 goals and 50 points on the season, was one of four Privateers with a hat trick in the game.  Connor Tomich (Sayville, NY) finished with three goals and three assists, while Gerace picked up five ground balls to go along with his five goals and assist.  Brice contributed five points of his own on three goals and two assists.

Kieran Hendry (East Northport, NY) led Maritime with eight ground balls, and he added six caused turnovers.  Joseph Bruno (East Islip, NY) and Thomas Pellicci (Manorville, NY), meanwhile, picked up five ground balls apiece, as Maritime held a 45-25 edge in that category.  Each of the Privateers' four goalkeepers played a quarter, with Jack Daresta (Massapequa, NY) (6-4) receiving credit for the win after making the start and notching two saves.

For the Golden Eagles, Michael Carere gathered eight ground balls and Johnny Argueta collected six ground balls to go along with two caused turnovers.  Starting goalkeeper Connor Van Dusen (0-6) posted nine saves before being relieved by Michael Gilardi at halftime.  Gilardi stopped nine of Maritime's 64 total shots while allowing just three goals.

Maritime is back on the road for its next two contests, starting with a 6:30 p.m. tilt at Farmingdale (8-2, 0-0 Skyline) on Tuesday.  The matchup immediately follows the women's game between the Privateers and Rams, which is set for 4 p.m.
