Gabrielle Nicolosi (West Islip, NY) tallied her 200
th career point on Wednesday, as the Privateers (7-3, 4-1 Skyline) notched a 15-5 victory over Mount St. Vincent (4-8, 2-4 Skyline) at Reinhart Field. With the win, Maritime clinched a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament for the fifth consecutive time.
Jillson Neuwirth finished with five assists in the contest, giving her 96 career helpers, breaking the previous record of 92 held by Krista Deleva. Nicolosi, meanwhile, had five goals and an assist to join Deleva as the only players in program history with 200 points. She reached the 200-point plateau with an assist on
Morgan Tracy's (Cambridge, MD) tally that gave the Privateers a 12-2 lead with 5:13 left in the third quarter.
Nicolosi scored four times in the second quarter, as Maritime rattled off seven consecutive goals to turn a 3-2 advantage into a 10-2 halftime cushion. After the Tracy goal extended the margin to 12-2, Mount St. Vincent notched three of the next four goals to get within 13-5.
Emily Commodore (Tinton Falls, NJ) found the back of the net with 1:51 remaining, then Jillson Neuwirth connected with
Jenna Lesiewicz (Wading River, NY) for a late score that capped the 15-5 win.
In addition to notching six points, Nicolosi tied for the team lead with four ground balls. Jillson Neuwirth had a goal to go along with her five assists, while Tracy posted three goals, two assists, four ground balls and four caused turnovers. Lesiewicz also scored three times, and she added four caused turnovers and six draw controls. Goalkeeper
Tori Koenig (Roxbury, NJ) (7-3) made six saves and collected four ground balls.
For the Dolphins, Alicia Rodriguez led the way with four goals, five ground balls, five caused turnovers and nine draw controls. Brittany Boyle scored the other Mount St. Vincent goal, while also picking up three ground balls. Makenna Reekie (2-5) posted nine saves to go along with a team-best seven ground balls.
Up next for the Privateers is a 1 p.m. matchup at Old Westbury (1-7, 0-5 Skyline) on Saturday.
