BRONX, NY – On Thursday night, the Maritime College men's and women's swimming & diving teams concluded the regular season by taking on York and host Lehman at the Lehman College APEX Aquatic Center.  The men's squad earned a 128-41 triumph over York and fell to Lehman by a 124-80 count.  The Privateer women, meanwhile, defeated York 67-17 and dropped a 105-55 decision to Lehman.

As a unit, the men's team picked up five event wins.  Rowan Hayes (Floral Park, NY) was responsible for three of those victories, finishing first in each of his individual events.  Hayes swam the 50 yard butterfly in 25.08 seconds to go along with first-place showings in the 50 yard breaststroke (28.24) and 100 yard breaststroke (1:01.43).  Liam McManus (Islip, NY) notched a 2:06.20 clocking to take the 200 yard freestyle by more than seven seconds, while Ryan Colombo's (Cortland Manor, NY) 500-yard freestyle time of 6:13.13 was over two minutes faster than the second-place finisher.

Mary Cirelli (Oreland, PA) won all three of her events to pace the women's team.  She took first in the 50 yard backstroke (33.61), 100 yard backstroke (1:12.91) and 100 yard individual medley (1:11.52).  Lauren Barriteau (Laurelton, NY) added a pair of victories in the 50 breaststroke (35.03) and 100 yard breaststroke (1:19.51).  She also placed second in the 50 butterfly (31.44).

Next week, Maritime will take part in the season-ending Metropolitan Championships.  The three-day meet runs from Feb. 16-18 at Rutgers University.
