Privateer Men, Women Drop Dual Meet to Baruch

THROGGS NECK, NY –
On Monday night, the Maritime College men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted their second straight dual meet to begin the season, as Baruch came to Riesenberg Aquatics Center.  The Bearcats defeated the Privateer men by a 106-64 count while notching a 98-60 victory on the women's side.

Rowan Hayes (Floral Park, NY) led the way for the men's team.  He finished second in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.63 and notched a 1:02.07 clocking in the 100 yard breaststroke.  Liam McManus (Islip, NY) took third in the 50 yard freestyle (25.25), while Matt Klimek (Malverne, NY) was third in the 100 yard butterfly (1:02.40).

Maritime's women notched a pair of event wins.  Lauren Barriteau (Laurelton, NY) swam the 1000 yard freestyle in 14:12.00 to go along with a 1:22.33 showing in the 100 breaststroke.  Jessica Magee (Smithtown, NY), meanwhile, scored 171.85 points in her first 1-meter diving competition of the season.  In addition, Oceana Elefante (Sayville, NY) grabbed second place in the 50 freestyle with a 28.52-second clocking.

The Privateers return to action on Friday with their first road meet of the season.  Maritime visits Purchase at 6 p.m.
