NEWARK, NJ – The Maritime College men's soccer team outshot Yeshiva 20-5 and had a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal on Wednesday night. However, the Privateers (4-2-5, 1-1-4 Skyline) were unable to find the back of the net and ended up settling for a 0-0 draw with the Maccabees (4-4-2, 4-3-2 Skyline) at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium. It was Maritime's third consecutive tie and fourth straight game earning at least one point.
Maritime's best scoring chance of the first half came in the 22
nd minute, when
Jake Rodriguez's (Nanuet, NY) attempt was saved by Yeshiva goalkeeper Kellian Mary. The Privateers then peppered Marty with 15 shots in the second half. He was credited with six saves in the final 45 minutes, one of which came against
Christopher Laino (West Islip, NY) late in the contest after a red card left the Maccabees down to 10 men.
Marty (4-4-2) finished with seven saves in the game.
Augusto Lebron (Valley Stream, NY) (4-2-5), meanwhile, only had to make one save for his sixth clean sheet of the season.
With the result, Maritime snapped a three-game losing streak against Yeshiva. This also marks the first time program history that the Privateers, who also played to a 0-0 tie against Eastern Mennonite on Aug. 30, have recorded multiple scoreless draws in the same season.
Up next for Maritime is a 2 p.m. matchup with Old Westbury (4-7-1, 1-6-0 Skyline) at Reinhart Field on Saturday. It will be the first of three straight home games for the Privateers.
