KINGS POINT, NY – The Maritime College men's soccer team suffered its first loss in a month on Tuesday. The Privateers (7-3-5, 3-2-4 Skyline) saw their seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 3-0 defeat against Merchant Marine (9-5-2, 6-2-2 Skyline) at Bartoszek Field.
After recording four consecutive clean sheets, Maritime conceded its first goal since Oct. 5 in the sixth minute, when Billy Castoro got a header past
Augusto Lebron (Valley Stream, NY). The Mariners outshot the Privateers 11-0 in the first half, but Lebron did his part to keep it a 1-0 game.
Maritime had two quality scoring chances early in the second half before Merchant Marine increased its lead on Jack Ouellette's tally in the 70
th minute. Andrew Jung then made it 3-0 in the 75
th minute. Merchant Marine goalkeeper Ethan Howell stopped

Lebron (7-3-5) was credited with five saves in the losing effort. Howell (7-4-2), meanwhile, recorded three saves. Patrick Novotny had two assists for the Mariners, while Castoro and Jung each scored for the fifth time. Ouellette's goal was his first of the season.
On Saturday, the Privateers continue their season-ending three-game road trip with a 12 p.m. visit to first-place St. Joseph's LI (10-1-2, 9-0-0 Skyline). Maritime is currently one point out of the final spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament.
