THROGGS NECK, NY – Jonathan Toma (Massapequa, NY) scored in the fifth minute of the Maritime College men's soccer team's game against SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday night.  That goal would prove to be the difference, as the Privateers (6-2-5) notched a 1-0 victory over the Fighting Tigers (3-9-1) at Reinhart Field.

Maritime applied consistent early pressure on SUNY Cobleskill goalkeeper Joe Wille, and Toma's blast from the top of the box sailed into the upper left corner.  The Privateers outshot the Fighting Tigers 10-0 in the first half (and 21-5 for the game), but were unable to get another one by Wille (1-1-0), who finished with five saves.

Augusto Lebron (Valley Stream, NY) (6-2-5) only had to make one save while tying the single-season program record with his eighth clean sheet of the year.  The eight shutouts as a team also matched the single-season school mark.

Toma, meanwhile, took over the team lead in points.  It was his fourth goal of the season to go along with a pair of assists, and he's now either scored or assisted on five of the Privateers' last seven tallies.

On Friday, Maritime (2-1-4 Skyline) concludes its home schedule with a 7 p.m. matchup against Purchase (1-11-0, 0-8-0 Skyline).  The Privateers will honor their three graduating seniors—Ryan Breaton (Bayport, NY), Trevor Hubbard (East Northport, NY) and Fanis Tsatalios (Athens, Greece)—prior to the game.
