Reilly Notches 100th Point As Maritime Clinches Playoff Berth

THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College men's lacrosse team wrapped up its regular season home schedule by welcoming Purchase to Reinhart Field.  Parker Reilly (West Islip, NY) recorded his 100th career point in the game, as he led the Privateers (10-5, 5-0 Skyline) with five goals in the 15-2 victory over the Panthers (6-7, 2-2 Skyline).

It was Reilly's second straight five-goal game, and he's had five points in each of Maritime's last four contests.  Connor Tomich (Sayville, NY) also finished with five points on a goal and four assists, while Charles Longo (Bellport, NY) scored twice and added an assist.  Brian Drost (Shoreham, NY) had two goals and an assist, and Thomas Kennedy (Orangeburg, NY) tallied two goals of his own.

Thomas Pellicci (Manorville, NY) went 11-for-12 on faceoffs and gathered a game-high nine ground balls.  Payton Stump (East Meadow, NY) collected five ground balls and Matthew Guercio (Smithtown, NY) picked up four ground balls, as the Privateers held a 41-25 edge in that category.  Ben McGrady (Annapolis, MD) (10-4) played the first half in goal and made two saves.  Jack Daresta (Massapequa, NY) allowed one goal in the third quarter before Michael Monahan (Ronkonkoma, NY) recorded four saves in the fourth quarter.

Four of Maritime's first six shots resulted in goals, and the Privateers held a 6-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.  After Maritime extended its lead to 9-0, Purchase's Kevon Joseph scored on the final play of the first half.  In the third quarter, the Privateers added five more goals to open up a 14-2 cushion.  Sean Foley (Long Beach, NY) then found the back of the net remaining in the contest to close out the scoring.

In addition to recording a man-up goal, Joe Ely paced Purchase with five ground balls.  Riley Donovan, meanwhile, secured three ground balls to go along with three caused turnovers.  Goalkeeper Will Boes (6-7) was credited with 12 saves in a losing effort.

Maritime has now won nine in a row, matching its longest streak under Head Coach Justin ManjaresIt was also the Privateers' 30th straight triumph against conference opposition.

With the victory, Maritime clinched a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament for the fifth consecutive time.  The Privateers will be guaranteed a home semifinal game if they win Saturday's 12 p.m. contest at Mount St. Vincent (4-8, 0-4 Skyline).
