THROGGS NECK, NY – On Friday night, the Maritime College men's lacrosse team took on Farmingdale in a rematch of the last two Skyline Conference Championship Games. The Privateers (9-5, 4-0 Skyline) fell behind 3-1 before storming back with 10 straight goals in an eventual 14-5 victory over the Rams (10-3, 1-2 Skyline) at Reinhart Field. It was Maritime's eighth straight win after starting the season 1-5.
Prior to the contest, the Privateers honored their seven graduating seniors—

Matthew Guercio (Smithtown, NY),
Steven Pinto (Oakdale, NY),
Payton Stump (East Meadow, NY),
Christian Vera (Baldwin, NY),
Derek Walter (Ronkonkoma, NY) and
Matthew Weigand (Massapequa, NY). Maritime then scored the first goal of the game two and a half minutes in when
Ryan Brice (Wall, NJ) found the back of the net. Farmingdale responded with three straight tallies, though, to take a 3-1 lead.
After
Charles Longo (Bellport, NY) made it 3-2,
Parker Reilly's (West Islip, NY) blast tied the game with 10:42 remaining in the second quarter. Guercio then put Maritime back in front less than 30 seconds later. A
Connor Tomich (Sayville, NY) goal extended the Privateers' cushion to 6-3 at halftime before
Thomas Kennedy (Orangeburg, NY) scored twice and Reilly added three more in the third quarter.
Farmingdale snapped the 10-0 run with a man-up tally at the 5:24 mark of the third quarter. Maritime responded with three straight goals, though, to increase its advantage to 14-4. The Rams' James Hicks closed out the scoring in the Privateers' 14-5 triumph, their 29
th straight over conference opposition.
Reilly needed just eight shots to notch five goals. Kennedy finished with a career-high six points, tallying three goals to go along with three assists. Tomich had five points on two goals and three assists, while Longo recorded two goals and two assists. Weigand picked up a team-best eight ground balls, and
Kieran Hendry (East Northport, NY) added six ground balls.
Ben McGrady (Annapolis, MD) (9-4) made nine saves in the victory.
Five different Rams found the back of the net, with Steven DiCarlo and Thomas Stock each posting an assist, as well. Antonio Kaminskey gathered a game-high 10 ground balls, as Farmingdale held a 33-28 edge in that category. Dan Erler (9-3) got the start in net and took the loss. He was credited with seven saves.
Maritime wraps up its regular season home slate on Wednesday night with a 7 p.m. matchup against Purchase (5-6, 1-1 Skyline).
