Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Privateers Fall at Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, NY – In a contest that took 49 hours to complete, the Maritime College men's soccer team (3-6-2, 0-5-1 Skyline) suffered a 2-0 loss to Old Westbury (3-6-1, 1-4-1 Skyline) at Panther Park.  The game was suspended due to weather at halftime on Saturday before concluding on Monday afternoon.

It was still 0-0 when play resumed.  Old Westbury broke the deadlock early in the second half, though, when Erick Ortega got one past Maritime goalkeeper Augusto Lebron (Valley Stream, NY).  The Panthers then extended their lead on Daniel Moran's goal in the 62nd minute.  Maritime had a late scoring opportunity on a 90th-minute corner kick.  Georgios Tsatalios (Athens, Greece) saw his attempt stopped by Old Westbury goalkeeper Andy Chacho, however, sealing the Panthers' 2-0 victory.

Maritime also had a pair of quality chances before play was halted on Saturday.  Chris Vazquez's (Woodhaven, NY) shot was saved in the 16th minute, while Jake Rodriguez (Nanuet, NY) fired a free kick on goal in the 33rd minute.  Lebron kept it scoreless when he made the save on Moran's 39th-minute header in rainy conditions that eventually made the field unplayable, resulting in the halftime suspension.

Lebron (3-6-2) finished with two saves.  Chacho (3-6-1), meanwhile, recorded three saves in his first shutout of the season.

The Privateers play three of their next four games at Reinhart Field, starting with a 12 p.m. matchup against first-place Yeshiva (4-2-2, 4-0-2 Skyline) on Friday.
