Defending Skyline Champions Announce 2023 Schedule

2023 Schedule

THROGGS NECK, NY –
The Maritime College men's lacrosse team will begin its quest for a fourth straight Skyline Conference championship at New Paltz on Feb. 22.  After visiting Salve Regina on Feb. 25, the Privateers' home opener on March 1 will be a rematch of their 2022 NCAA Tournament encounter with Stevens, one of 10 contests on the 16-game slate set for Reinhart Field.

"We're once again playing a very difficult non-conference schedule," Head Coach Justin Manjares said.  "Our goal is to get back to the NCAA Tournament, and these are the types of teams we'll see should we make it there.  I like that we'll have the opportunity to play a good number of home games, too.  That should really help us build momentum heading into Skyline Conference play."

Maritime's matchup with Stevens is the first of three straight non-conference games against opponents that played in last year's NCAA Tournament.  The Privateers will also host Stockton on March 4 before traveling to Wesleyan on March 8.  That will be Maritime's only road contest in an eight-game span, as the Privateers will follow the Wesleyan tilt with six straight at Reinhart Field.

After its annual showdown with Geneseo on March 12, Maritime concludes non-conference play by hosting Coast Guard (March 15), Kean (March 22) and Montclair State (March 25).  The Privateers then begin defense of their Skyline Conference title against Merchant Marine on April 1.  Maritime, which hasn't lost to a conference opponent since 2018, also hosts Manhattanville on April 8 before traveling to St. Joseph's LI on April 11.

On April 14, the Privateers welcome Farmingdale to Reinhart Field for a rematch of the 2022 Skyline Conference Championship Game, which Maritime won 22-13.  Maritime then concludes its home schedule against Purchase on April 19.  The Privateers end the regular season with back-to-back road games at Mount St. Vincent (April 22) and Mount St. Mary (April 25).

This year's Skyline Conference Tournament will begin on Wednesday, May 3 with the semifinals, hosted by the top two seeds.  The Skyline Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, May 6.
