PATCHOGUE, NY – The Maritime College men's soccer team began a two-game road trip at St. Joseph's LI on Tuesday night. Playing away from home for just the third time this season, the Privateers (1-6-2, 0-3-1 Skyline) fell to the Golden Eagles (6-1-0, 3-0-0 Skyline) by a 1-0 count at Danzi Stadium.
Augusto Lebron (Valley Stream, NY) stopped an early flurry of St. Joseph's LI shots before the Golden Eagles eventually got one past the Maritime goalkeeper in the 28
th minute. Sean Gordon sent a cross onto the head of Justin Gracia, who found the back of the net to give St. Joseph's LI a 1-0 lead. The Golden Eagles continued to pepper Lebron, but he was up to the task, notching five first-half saves to keep it a one-goal game.
Maritime nearly tied it in the 53
rd minute.
Jake Cosgrove's (Seaford, NY) shot was turned aside by Josh Lehr, though, and St. Joseph's LI would go on to post the 1-0 victory.
Lebron (1-3-1) played the first half and took the loss. He was relieved by
Danny Madeira (New Rochelle, NY), who made three saves while not allowing a goal over the final 45 minutes. Lehr (5-1-0) was credited with one save for the Golden Eagles.
On Saturday, Maritime travels to Manhattanville (5-3-1, 3-0-0 Skyline) for a 1 p.m. matchup.
