ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – The Maritime College men's soccer team began its 2022 season with a visit to Bard on Thursday night.  Jake Rodriguez (Nanuet, NY) scored the Privateers' first goal of the year in the 61^st minute, but it was not enough, as Maritime (0-1-0) dropped a 3-1 decision to the host Raptors (1-0-0) at the Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.

Bard struck early, getting a goal from Nick Agugliaro in the sixth minute.  The Raptors doubled their lead in the 51^st minute, when Isaiah Ortiz beat Maritime goalkeeper Danny Madeira (New Rochelle, NY).  However, Nick Glancy (Deer Park, NY) connected with Rodriguez in the 61^st minute to cut Maritime's deficit in half.  Bard added another score from Dylan Kotlowitz in the 74^th minute to close out a 3-1 victory.

Rodriguez's goal was the only Maritime shot that went on target.  Madeira (0-1-0), meanwhile, was credited with one save.

Bard had a 10-6 advantage in shots, including five by Caleb Ribeiro.  He also assisted on two of the Raptors' goals.  Gavin Hersey (1-0-0) earned the win in goal.

Maritime's home opener is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday against Cobleskill (0-1-0).  It will be the start of a four-game homestand for the Privateers.
