THROGGS NECK, NY –
On Wednesday afternoon, the Skyline Conference champion Maritime College men's lacrosse team will make its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.  The Privateers (11-7) will take on MAC Freedom champion Stevens (12-7) at 4 p.m. from the DeBaun Athletic Complex in Hoboken, NJ.

Maritime earned its third straight Skyline title with a 22-13 victory over Farmingdale on Saturday.  Kyle Orton (Lewes, DE) was named MVP of the Skyline Championship Game after picking up five ground balls and causing two turnovers while also scoring a goal.  In addition, Orton was one of five Privateers to earn First Team All-Skyline honors for his play in the midfield.

Michael Monahan (Ronkonkoma, NY) was both the First Team All-Skyline goalkeeper and the conference's Co-Rookie of the Year.  He has won nine consecutive decisions between the pipes.  Defender Joe Kiernan (Northport, NY), who was selected First Team All-Skyline for the second time in as many years, leads the Privateers with 56 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers.

First Team All-Skyline selections John Killcommons (Garden City, NY) and Steven Pinto (Oakdale, NY) headline the Maritime offense. Killcommons scored six times in the Skyline Championship Game and ranks second on the squad with 33 goals.  Pinto, meanwhile, has 21 goals on the season.  Parker Reilly (West Islip, NY) is the Privateers' leading scorer with 37 goals.

Stevens won the MAC Freedom title, 12-10, over Arcadia on Saturday.  The Ducks are playing in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year and 12th time overall.  Last season, Stevens beat Catholic in the first round before falling to No. 4 Lynchburg.

Joe Cawley was named MVP of the MAC Freedom Championship Game after scoring a goal and collecting five ground balls.  He leads the team with 27 caused turnovers and ranks third with 46 ground balls.  Conner Park paces the Ducks with 69 ground balls, while Russell Eberding has collected 67 ground balls.  Goalkeeper Jake Zeyher made 13 saves in each of Stevens' MAC Freedom Tournament wins.  On the season, he boasts a 10-7 record.

Offensively, the Ducks are paced by Michael Burns and Jack Savarese, who have scored 38 goals apiece.  Burns and Tyler Ryan are tied for the team lead with 60 points, while Savarese has 59 points on the season.  Brendan Sullivan has scored 33 times in 2022, and Ryan Caplis has 30 goals on the year.  As a team, Stevens averages 14.68 goals per game.

This marks the first meeting between the Privateers and Ducks since 2007, and the first-ever NCAA Tournament encounter against each other.  The winner of Wednesday's game will move on to face No. 7 Dickinson (18-0) in the second round at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
