THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College women's lacrosse team (10-0, 4-0 Skyline) stayed undefeated on the season with a 12-9 victory over Manhattanville (1-8, 0-3 Skyline) at Reinhart Field on Friday night. The win was Head Coach

th as a collegiate head coach.
Gabrielle Nicolosi (West Islip, NY) scored less than a minute into the game, then
Avery Jillson Neuwirth (Croton-on-Hudson, NY) found the back of the net twice in a 22-second span to make it 3-0 midway through the first quarter. Jillson Neuwirth collected a loose ball and put it away for her third goal of the period at the 3:07 mark, extending the Privateers' cushion to 5-1 after 15 minutes.
It was 7-3 Maritime at halftime, and the Privateers outscored the Valiants 3-1 in the third quarter to increase the margin to 10-4. After Manhattanville pulled within 11-7,
Sara Wright (East Islip, NY) scored with 3:02 left in the contest to again give Maritime a five-goal advantage. The Vailants picked up two late scores before the Privateers ran out the clock on their 11
th straight win dating back to last season.
Jillson Neuwirth
paced the Privateers with four goals, while Wright
had three goals and an assist to go along with three ground balls and five draw controls. Nicolosi
contributed two goals and two assists.
Jenna Lesiewicz (Wading River, NY) and
Tori Gay (Whiteford, MD) controlled six draws apiece, and Gay also tallied five ground balls.
Liz Pomaro (Farmingville, NY) (10-0) corralled five ground balls of her own while making three saves in 45 minutes between the pipes.
Tori Koenig (Roxbury, NJ) recorded two fourth-quarter saves.
Lara Keenan had a hat trick for the Valiants. Marisa D'Angelo and Maura Kelly each added two goals and an assist. Kelly also picked up four ground balls, as did Kasey Molito. Caity Bianchi, meanwhile, had a team-high three draw controls. Manhattanville goalkeeper Britney Sirota (1-8) was credited with 18 saves.
Up next for Maritime is a 4 p.m. matchup at Farmingdale (5-6, 3-0 Skyline) on Wednesday. The Rams were the last team to beat the Privateers, earning a 16-9 victory when the teams met in 2021. This season's meeting is nearly one year to the date from that contest.
