Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Maritime Cruises to Victory In Skyline Opener

THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College men's lacrosse team returned home for the first time in nearly a month on Wednesday night.  And the Privateers sure seemed to enjoy the comforts of Reinhart Field.  Parker Reilly (West Islip, NY) scored five goals in the first quarter, as Maritime (3-7, 1-0 Skyline) jumped out to a 17-0 lead en route to a 23-2 victory over Mount St. Vincent (2-6, 1-1 Skyline) in its first Skyline Conference game of the season.

Each of Reilly's first five shots found the back of the net, and he finished the contest with six goals, two shy of tying the single-game program record.  Reilly also had three assists, giving him nine points, the third-highest single-game total in school history.  Connor Tomich (Sayville, NY), meanwhile, tallied six assists, which equaled the second-most in the Privateers' single-game record book.  In addition, Tomich picked up seven ground balls.

Maritime led 7-0 after the first quarter and extended its advantage to 12-0 at halftime.  Patrick McGrath (Franklin Square, NY) scored 12 seconds into the third quarter, and the Privateers added four more tallies before Mount St. Vincent finally got on the board at the 6:11 mark.  Seven seconds after the Dolphins' Patrick Nagy made it 18-2, Reilly fed John Killcommons (Garden City, NY) for a goal that put Maritime ahead 19-2 after three quarters.  The Privateers then outscored Mount St. Vincent 4-0 in the final period to close out their 15th consecutive win over a conference opponent.

It was a complete effort by the Privateers, who won 22-of-28 faceoffs and collected 53 ground balls to the Dolphins' 17.  Maritime also held a 56-19 edge in shots and set a single-game program team record with 44 points, as 21 of the 23 goals were assisted.

Steven Pinto (Oakdale, NY) and Josh Fix (Islip, NY) each scored three times, while Killcommons had two goals and three assists.  Ryan Brice (Wall, NJ), meanwhile, recorded the first two goals of his collegiate career.  Rob Tracy (Smithtown, NY) went 16-4 on faceoffs and picked up seven ground balls.  Michael Monahan (Ronkonkoma, NY) (1-1) earned his first career win in goal after making seven saves.  Jack Daresta (Massapequa, NY) and Ben McGrady (Annapolis, MD) both saw time between the pipes, as well.

Jacob Cochran contributed to both Mount St. Vincent goals, scoring one and assisting on the other.  Gio Jean-Pharuns paced the Dolphins with three ground balls, while goalkeeper Sawyer Davis (2-6) recorded 14 saves.

On Saturday, the Privateers visit Merchant Marine (3-5, 0-0 Skyline) for a 1 p.m. matchup.  It will be Maritime's first trip to Kings Point since the 2018 season.
