THROGGS NECK, NY – For the second straight week, a member of the Maritime College men's lacrosse team has been chosen as the Skyline Conference Defensive Player of the Week.  Sophomore Kieran Hendry (East Northport, NY) was honored after leading the Privateers' defensive effort in victories over Manhattanville and St. Joseph's LI.

Maritime held its two opponents to just nine combined goals, knocking off Manhattanville 16-4 on Tuesday night before earning a 15-5 home win over St. Joseph's LI on Saturday.  The Privateers have allowed only 17 goals in four games since the start of conference play.

In the victory at Manhattanville, Hendry led the Privateers with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.  He then had five ground balls and two caused turnovers against St. Joseph's LI, giving him 12 ground balls and seven caused turnovers in the two games.  For the season, Hendry ranks second on the squad in both categories (36 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers).

This is his first career Skyline weekly award, and he's the third different Privateer to be recognized by the conference this season.  Michael Monahan (Defensive Player) and Parker Reilly (Rookie) were both honored last week.

The Privateers (6-7, 4-0 Skyline) play their final two road games of the season this week.  Maritime visits Farmingdale (8-2, 2-1 Skyline) at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, then travels to Purchase (5-5, 0-3 Skyline) on Saturday for a 12 p.m. tilt.
