THROGGS NECK, NY – The Maritime College men's lacrosse team welcomed No. 14 Wesleyan to a snow-covered Reinhart Field on Wednesday night. With the conditions making for a sloppy field, the 14
th-ranked Cardinals (2-0) earned a 25-5 victory over the Privateers (2-2).
Wesleyan took a 2-1 lead before
Sean Foley (Long Beach, NY) got Maritime on the board with 12:25 left in the first quarter. After the Cardinals extended their advantage to 11-2 at halftime,
Patrick Schnell (Jericho, NY) found the back of the net 50 seconds into the third quarter. Wesleyan responded with six straight goals, however, to make it 17-3, and the Cardinals outscored Maritime 7-1 in the fourth quarter to close out a 25-5 win.
Schnell
and
Steven Pinto (Oakdale, NY) each scored twice for the Privateers.
Joe Kiernan (Northport, NY), meanwhile, picked up a team-high six ground balls. Goalkeeper

Michael Monahan (Ronkonkoma, NY), who stopped two Wesleyan shots.
For Wesleyan, Justin Hazard, Hayden Leachman and Matt Rettinger led the way with three goals apiece.
