NEW YORK – The Maritime College men's basketball team had the ball and a chance to win with 2.5 seconds remaining on Monday night. However, the Privateers (2-4), who had to go the length of the floor, were unable to get a shot off and Baruch (6-3) held on for a 68-67 victory at the ARC Arena.
Maritime trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half, but rallied to take a 62-60 lead with 3:07 left. It was 64-64 when

After Baruch's Michael Richards hit a layup on the other end, the Bearcats forced a turnover on the ensuing Maritime possession. With the shot clock turned off, Adnan Bajrami drained a midrange jumper that would prove to be the game-winner for the Bearcats.

The Privateers eventually opened up a six-point gap when Regan nailed a trey to make it 28-22 with 3:25 left in the first half. Baruch outscored Maritime 11-1 over the remainder of the period, though, and took a 33-29 cushion into the locker room.
After the Bearcats built their largest lead of the game, 46-33, the Privateers went on a 14-3 spurt to pull within two, 49-47, midway through the second half. Baruch regained a five-point cushion at 58-53, but Maritime again responded, going on a 9-2 run to take a 62-60 advantage. Overall, there were six ties and six lead changes in the game.
