Women’s Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day with Skyline Matchup vs. Farmingdale

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime women's lacrosse team recognized senior Alyssa Esposito (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) as the team's lone senior on Friday evening prior to its matchup against the Farmingdale Rams. In the game the Rams pulled away for the 20-3 victory on Reinhart Field.
 
Maritime's three goals were scored by sophomore Ciara Murphy (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) as she led the Privateers with seven of their 11 shots. Sophomore Catherine Pfundstein (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) added three shots, while junior Christa Case (Southington, Conn./Southington) added one shots and tallied the team's lone assist on the game.
 
Defensively sophomore Courtney Salatto (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) led the team with three caused turnovers, while both junior Jessica Yee (Freehold, N.J./Freehold) and Murphy each had two caused turnovers apiece. Case forced one turnover as well on the game. In terms of ground balls Yee led the Privateers with four, while Salatto and Murphy, along with juniors Shannon Brady (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) and Abigail Granit (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) as well as freshman Elizabeth Millicker (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) each had two ground balls apiece.
 
Freshman Esmeralda Hernandez (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) made four saves for the Privateers in goal.
 
Farmingdale opened the scoring with eight goals before the first Maritime goal went on the board from Murphy. The Rams added five more goals to close out the opening half to take a 13-1 lead into the halftime break.

After the intermission, Murphy opened the scoring with her second of the game off of a pass from Case. Farmingdale added the next seven goals before Murphy capped off the scoring in the period to finish the scoring off at 20-3.
 
Maritime (1-9, 1-5 Skyline) will host Mount St. Mary on Tuesday evening, with the opening draw slated for 7 p.m. on Reinhart Field.
 
Farmingdale (12-1, 5-0 Skyline) will travel to Sage tomorrow evening for a 5 p.m. start against the Gators at RPI's Renwyck Field.
