Men's Lacrosse Falls in Road Matchup at Farmingdale

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Maritime men's lacrosse team dropped a Wednesday night road game in a Skyline matchup against the Farmingdale Rams by the score of 18-6 on Long Island.
 
Senior Kevin Izzo (Cutchogue, N.Y./Mattituck) led the Privateers with two goals and one assist, while freshman Danny Connell (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) also registered multiple points on the night with two goals. Sophomore Ian Ziemski (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and freshman Ciaran McEnroe (Pearl River, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep (N.J.)) rounded out the scoring for Maritime.
 
Freshman Mark Buchner (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) led the defensive field players with a pair of caused turnovers, while four other Privateers each had one. Junior netminder Brendan McNally (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) played the first three quarters and stopped 15 shots of the 27 from the Rams that were on target. Sophomore Justin Weigold (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) added one save, while junior Ian Ballou (Williamsburg, Va./Bruton) added a pair as the pair split the time in the fourth quarter.
 
Maritime got on the board first as Connell opened the game with a goal off a pass from junior Brett Daigle (West Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) with 2:56 gone by in the opening period. Farmingdale scored the remaining three goals of the opening period and added the first six of the second quarter to take a 9-1 lead.
 
Ziemski scored off a pass from Izzo to close out the scoring in the second quarter as the teams headed into the halftime break.
 
Farmingdale outscored Maritime 3-1 in the third quarter as McEnroe scored the lone Privateer tally in the stanza.
 
After Farmingdale scored the first goal in the fourth, Connell picked up his second of the game to trim the deficit to 13-4. The Rams scored the next five to extend the lead, but Izzo closed out the game with two goals on assists from freshman Jackson Seitz and senior Jack Johnson (Annandale, Va./Annandale).
 
Maritime (4-8, 2-5 Skyline) will be off until next Tuesday, as the Privateers will travel to take on the St. Joseph's (LI) Golden Eagles in their first-ever matchup. The game will begin at 7 p.m. on April 18, from the Danzi Athletic Complex on Long Island.
 
Farmingdale (10-4, 4-3 Skyline) will travel to take on Montclair State on Wednesday, April 19 for a 7 p.m. start in New Jersey.
