CASTINE, Maine – The Maritime Women's Lacrosse team kicked off the 2017 Maritime Cup on Friday morning, dropping the opening matchup to Maine Maritime at Ritchie Field by a 13-2 score.

The Mariners followed that up with two straight free position goals to send the team to halftime, leading 5-2.
Despite being outscored 5-2 in the first half, the Privateers hung with the Mariners in the shots category, trailing 8-7 at the break.
