Football Week 11 Preview: Gallaudet at Maritime

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime football team will meet the Gallaudet Bison for the 12th time in program history on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. on Reinhart Field as the Privateers seek their ninth win of the 2017 season. Saturday will also be 'Senior Day" as Maritime will honor their senior class on the field prior to kickoff.

Series History: This is the 12th meeting between the Privateers and the Bison. The Privateers lead the series 7-4 with a current win streak of four games. In the last meeting on November 12th, 2016, Maritime defeated Gallaudet, 31-28.

Coin Toss: On hand for Saturday's coin toss is Paul Pedretti, Class of 1981. Pedretti was a captain of the football team and is now a professional engineer that runs a consulting firm after 17 years as a merchant marine.

Seeking Second Highest Win Total: With a win on Saturday the Privateers will record their ninth victory of the season making it the second-highest win total in program history. Maritime's highest win total in program history is 10, which was set back in the 2010 season.
 
Very Special, Special Teams: The Maritime special teams has blocked seven kicks this season, which ties the current program record set back in 2009. Junior Karl Riek (Sweetwater, N.J./Cedar Creek) has blocked four kicks this year to lead the Privateers while three other players have one each.

Final Week at Home: When the Privateers play their week 11 contest at home, they are 2-2 in games since the programs revival. More recently, Maritime is 2-0 in their last two week 11 home games with both of those wins coming over Gallaudet in both 2013 and 2015. To close out the 2013 Maritime ended Gallaudet's unbeaten season, as the Privateers still remain the only team in ECFC history to finish a full regular season at 10-0.
 
Around the ECFC: Two games will kick off at 12 p.m., followed by one more game at 1 p.m. in the ECFC this weekend. The slate of games opens with Mount Ida visiting Husson and Dean visiting Anna Maria, both of those games will start at 12 p.m. Castleton will travel to Alfred State beginning at 1 p.m. along with Maritime and Gallaudet.
