Football Week 8 Preview: Maritime at Mount Ida

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime football team heads back on the road in search of their sixth win of the season, when the Privateers take on the Mound Ida Mustangs at 1 p.m. on Alumni Field in Massachusetts.

Series History: Maritime and Mount Ida have met 11 times in program history with the series split close as the Privateers have won six matchups to the five won by the Mustangs.
 
The Privateers have won each of the last two seasons including last year's 17-14 win at Mount Ida. Maritime visits the Mustangs for the second straight season due to the realignment of the conference with the additions of Alfred State and Dean prior to the season.

He's All Wright: With Saturday's 26 completions and 334 passing yards, junior quarterback Thomas Wright (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) became the first quarterback to complete over 200 passes in a career, he also crossed over the 2,500 passing yard mark and now has 205 completions for 2,707 career yards.
 
Touchdown Marks: With two more touchdowns on Saturday, Wright became the first quarterback with more than 10 touchdown passes in a season. One of his passing touchdowns went to junior Brandonn Drumgole (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./Mt. Sinai), who also broke the single-season receiving touchdown record with seven on the year thus far.
 
Total TFLs: With 1.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage on Saturday, senior Kendal Parker (Evans, Ga./Lakeside) moved into the top-10 all time with 17 career stops behind the line of scrimmage. The all-time record is 45 held by Hugh O'Brien '15.
 
Around the ECFC: In addition to Maritime visiting Mount Ida, Alfred State pays a visit to Anna Maria at 1 p.m., while Dean travels to Castleton. The longest road trip in the league also takes place this weekend as Husson heads south to take on Gallaudet.
