THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Maritime senior captain
Brian Price (New York, N.Y./Wadleigh) was selected as the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week, as announced by the league for the second week of the 2016 season.
Â
Price had put together a solid all-around effort for the Privateers on both special teams and defense in their home opener against Mass. Maritime on Friday evening on Reinhart Field. Price had a blocked punt to open the second quarter as the turnover led to Maritime's first points on the evening.
Â
He also combined his three kickoff returns for 62 yards, and one punt return for 10 yards. In addition to his special teams performance, he finished third on the team with seven tackles and also had his first interception of the season deep in his own territory to stall the Mass. Maritime series.
Â
On the season, Price now has five kickoff returns for 105 yards, while also having the one punt return for 10 yards. Defensively, he has amassed 20 tackles through the first two weeks of the season including one tackle for a loss in yardage and one interception to go along with his blocked kick.
Â
Maritime (1-1) will wrap-up non-conference play on Friday, when the team plays host to the Merchant Marine Mariners at 7 p.m. on Reinhart Field.
