MADISON, N.J. – The Maritime Rugby team scored within minutes of the opening kickoff and continued to execute tough and relentless controlled possession of the ball en route to a 63-5 win over the Drew Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
Early in the second half, following integration of the second team, the quality of play did not dissipate nor did Maritime dominance of the field. FreshmanÂ
John Curley (Tampa, Fla.) ran in for 3 tries, senior
Ethan Cannon (Hartford, Conn.) ran for two tries with one including an interception. The captain also kicked a Maritime Record of six conversion kicks most all from the corner for a total of 22 points scored.
SeniorÂ
Christopher Motlenski (Aquebogue, N.Y.), ran in for two tries, while junior
McCale Butto (Wyomissing, Pa.) ran in two and senior
Gibran Mora (Scranton, Pa.) ran in for a try.
Maritime Rugby plays its last regular season game home on Reinhart Field, next Sunday October 23 at 1:00 p.m. vs. Oneonta. With a win on Sunday, the team will qualify for postseason play.
