NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Maritime Men's Soccer team fell to the Mount St. Mary Knights in a Skyline Conference matchup by the score of 4-1 on Tuesday evening on Kaplan Field.

Junior
Kieran Donnelly (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) scored the lone Privateer goal, on a helper from senior
Renato Chira-Farfan (Miraflores, Peru/Mahopac (N.Y.)). In goal, senior
Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) registered five saves as he took the loss.

The early portion of the match saw a flurry of goals as four tallies were recorded in the opening 15:27 of the contest. Mount St. Mary got on the board first with a header shot to take a quick 1-0 lead just 181 seconds into the contest.

In the 10th minute, Donnelly picked up his first goal of the season on a long-range shot from a Chira-Farfan pass. For Donnelly, it was his 13th career goal, while Chira-Farfan picked up his seventh career assist.

Mount St. Mary scored twice more in the ensuing six minutes to take a 3-1 lead. The Privateers mustered one more shot in the remainder of the opening half, and went into the halftime break trailing by a 3-1 score.

Freshman
Billy Horgan (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) had the first chance of the second half as his shot in the 48th minute sailed high over the crossbar. After a Maritime foul, the Knights took advantage of the following free kick and banked home a rebound to take a 4-1 lead in the 54th minute.

Chira-Farfan picked up an on-target shot at the 57:55 mark of the game, but was unsuccessful as the Mount St. Mary goalkeeper denied the opportunity. Seniors
Patrick McCarty (East Rockaway, N.Y./East Rockaway) and
Sheick Wattara (Bronx, N.Y./Urban Assembly for Math & Science) also had chances over the next 10 minutes, but both were off target.

The Privateers had several more opportunities in the waning minutes with four consecutive corner kicks by Chira-Farfan and senior
Kevin Ferreira (Centereach, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) and freshman
Jack Feehan (Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale), but the team was unable to get off a shot on any of the three chances.

Final stats saw Mount St. Mary pick up 13 shots, to Maritime's eight. The Privateers led in corner kicks at a 6-4 clip, while the Knights were called offsides four times to Maritime's three offside calls.
Maritime (6-4-0, 1-2-0 Skyline) will face another difficult road task on Saturday afternoon, when the team visits the Farmingdale Rams for a 12 p.m. kickoff against the Rams.
Mount St. Mary (3-7-1, 2-1-0 Skyline) will host the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons on Saturday afternoon on Kaplan Field, kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
