FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Maritime Men's Soccer team won a tight Skyline Conference match, 1-0, over Farmingdale on Saturday afternoon on the Rams Turf Field.
Senior
Colton Gallt (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) scored his fifth goal of the season in the early stages of the second half. In the 48th minute of the match, Gallt received a pass from sophomore defender
Brett Reilly (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa), and then split two defenders before firing a shot from 10-yards out for the early game-winning goal. He also led the Privateers with four shots on goal in the contest.
In goal, senior
Karl Weber (Northport, N.Y./Northport) earned his third shutout of the season with six saves in the full 90 minutes. Weber now has seven wins on the season.
Junior
Andrew Barry (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz), sophomore
Matt Smith (Brightwaters, N.Y./Bay Shore) and freshman
Jack Feehan (Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) played stout defense against the Farmingdale attack in the shutout win.
In addition to his solid defense, Smith had two shots on goal in the match.
Senior forward
Sheick Wattara (Bronx, N.Y./Urban Assembly for Math & Science) registered two total shots, while junior
Kevin Ferreira (Centereach, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) added one shot on goal in the win. Senior
Renato Chira-Farfan (Miraflores, Peru/Mahopac (N.Y.)) and freshman
Parker Gallt (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) had one shot each.
The Privateers (7-4, 2-2Â Skyline) totaled 11 shots in the game, five less than Farmingdale's 16. The Rams (6-4, 3-1Â Skyline) also led in corners, five to three.
Maritime will look to continue their winning ways against Berkeley (N.Y.) on October 7 on Reinhart Field at 4 p.m.
