PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Maritime women's lacrosse continued Skyline Conference play on Saturday afternoon and fell to the St. Joseph's (LI) Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon by the score of 19-0.
Maritime was led by sophomore goalkeeper
Christina Finnen (Hicksville, N.Y./Holy Trinity), with 10 saves on the game in goal. Junior
Kristen Hoar (Buffalo, N.Y./Kenmore East), and freshman
Christa Case (Southington, Conn./Southington) and
Shannon Brady (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) each had two caused turnovers.
The Privateers recorded four shots on the game with junior
Leanne Lavelle (New Windsor, N.Y./Washingtonville) collecting two of the four, junior
Caroline Reynolds (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and sophomore
Hannah Mutum (Franklin Square, N.Y./Carey) also recorded shots on the afternoon.
St. Joseph's (LI) totaled 13 goals in the first half, with Finnen stopping all 10 of her shots in the period. The Golden Eagles added six more in the second half to cap of the scoring for the league victory.
Maritime was 9-of-15 on clear attempts, while the team also picked up seven ground balls and won six draw controls. Reynolds and Lavelle led the team with a pair of draw controls each, while Brady and Hoar also picked up one each.
Maritime (2-7, 0-4 Skyline) will look to bounce back on Tuesday evening when the Privateers play host to the Farmingdale Rams for a 7 p.m. start on Reinhart Field.
St. Joseph's (LI) (8-3, 4-0 Skyline) will play host to the Old Westbury Panthers for a 7 p.m. start on Tuesday evening from Danzi Stadium.
