THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime Men's Soccer team scored a late second half goal to defeat Yeshiva, 2-1 on Wednesday night on Reinhart Field.
The win clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament as Maritime finished with six conference wins and 18 points to clinch the berth.
Prior to the match, Maritime honored the members of its senior class with Renato Chira-Farfran,

The game-winning goal was an own goal off a Maccabee player, with just five minutes remaining in the second half. Junior
Corey Cartano (Raleigh, N.C./Sanderson) took a shot from the left wing, and as a Yeshiva defender attempted to gather the ball, the ball deflected off a the defender's toe just past his goalkeeper to put Maritime ahead by a 2-1 score.
Gallt netted the first goal for the Privateers in the 63rd minute of play. The ball deflected off two Yeshiva defenders before landing at the feet of Gallt, who shot the ball into the bottom right corner of the to even the score at one, after Yeshiva took a 1-0 lead in the closing minutes of the first half.

Kieran Donnelly (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) anchored the Privateer defense, allowing the one goal on just five total shots by the Maccabees.
Wattara and classmate
Kevin Ferreira (Centereach, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) both had multiple scoring chances. Wattara had two shots on goal, while Ferreira had five total shots.
Maritime (12-6-0, 6-4-0 Skyline) racked up 13 total shots, seven on goal, along with 10 corners. The Privateers clinched the fourth seed with the victory, and will host Mount St. Vincent on Saturday, with the time of the match still to be determined.
Yeshiva (6-7-2, 5-3-2 Skyline) were held to only five shots and two corners in the match. The Maccabees will take part in the Skyline Conference Quarterfinals as well when the team travels to third seeded Farmingdale on Sunday.
