THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 15, 2014) – The Maritime men's lacrosse team travels to Sprague Field to take on Montclair State on Wednesday evening as Skyline Conference play resumes at 7 p.m. in Montclair, New Jersey.

LAST GAME RECAP
Maritime enters off of a league win over Mount St. Mary by an 11-10 score last Wednesday evening at home. In the victory, senior Dylan Larmony (Old Bethpage, N.Y./Plainview JFK) led the way with four goals and two assists. Senior Andrew Scalesi (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) and freshman Colin McCoy (Glen Allen, Va./Greenport (N.Y.)) also had multi-goal games with two apiece.
 
On faceoffs, sophomore Matt Hayes (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) won 19-of-23 from the 'X' and led the team with 16 ground balls. In goal, Mike Arnold (Plainedge, N.Y./Plainedge) played all 60 minutes and picked up 13 saves including nine in the fourth quarter to earn the victory.
 
LARMONY TO THE HONOR ROLL

HAYES TOWARDS THE TOP
With his success all season long on faceoffs, Hayes has been amongst the national leaders in both ground balls per game as well as faceoff winning percent. Entering the day on Monday, Hayes was ranked second in the nation in ground balls per game with 12.29. He was also ranked ninth in the nation in faceoff winning percentage as he has won 68.1% of the draws taken.
 
SCOUTING THE RED HAWKS
Montclair State comes in ranked No. 12 nationally in both the USILA Coaches Poll as well as the Lacrosse Magazine Media Poll as released on Monday afternoon. The team overall comes in with an 11-1 overall record with a 4-0 mark in league action.
 
Thus far on the season, Montclair State has nearly doubled the offensive outputs of its opponents by a 180 to 92-goal differential through 12 games. Leading the way offensively are Sam Morrissey (29 g, 13 a) and Brett Mangan (26 g, 9 a). Mangan is the younger brother of Will Mangan of the Boston Cannons (Major League Lacrosse).
 
Eight other players on the Red Hawk roster have also scored double-figures in regards to goals. Including Don Finn, who also leads the team with 17 assists on the season.

The Red Hawks have split faceoff duties between a pair of players, as Blase Mantineo is 69-of-115 (60.0%) on draws, while Brad Pietrucha is 87-of-156 (55.8%) on faceoffs. Ryan Young with 35 caused turnovers and Kiel Dietrich with 23, lead the team on the defensive side of the ball.
 
In goal, Michael Dorn has handled the bulk of the playing duties this season as he has seen action in 620:34 of the 720:00 minutes the team has played this season. Dorn has allowed 73 goals and stopped 105 shots sent his way for a 7.06 goals against average and a .590 save percentage.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
Maritime is 0-11 in its all-time matchups with Montclair State. Last season the Red Hawks defeated the Privateers by a 21-4 score on Reinhart Field, as the Privateers got goals from four different players. In goal, Nick Barbuto played the first three quarters of the game and picked up 14 saves in the losing effort.

UP NEXT
After Wednesday evening's game against Montclair State, Maritime returns home on Wednesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. to close out the regular season to take on Mount St. Vincent on Reinhart Field. Prior to the game, senior day festivities will also take place, as the Privateer men's lacrosse team will bid adieu to its eight departing seniors.
 
Montclair State will play a non-conference matchup against Albright out of the Commonwealth Conference on April 19 at 1 p.m. in Reading, Pa.
