THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (March 7, 2014) – For the first time this season, the Maritime Privateer men's lacrosse team will be taking on an opponent at Reinhart Field as the squad welcomes in the Shenandoah Hornets on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. start.

The Privateers got goals from senior
Paul Grubb (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) along with rookies
Will McDermott (Lexington Park, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) and
Kevin Izzo (Cutchogue, N.Y./Mattituck) as each player registered the first goals of their respective collegiate careers.
In goal, the Privateers split time as sophomore
Mike Arnold (Plainedge, N.Y./Plainedge) got the start and made eight saves through the first 30 minutes. Freshman
Kieran Clark (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) came on in the second half and collected four saves while allowing two goals.
SCOUTING THE HORNETSComing all the way to New York from Winchester, Virginia the Hornets travel on the road for just the second time this season while having already played five home games. The team comes in with an overall mark of 3-3 having most recently played host to the Susquehanna Crusaders out of the Landmark Conference.
In their 13-7 loss to Susquehanna, the Hornets were led by freshman Stephen Latona with three goals on as many shots. Freshman Terrence Mulvey also netted a pair of goals in the losing effort. In goal, rookie Ben Judy collected seven saves in the losing effort.
On the year, Latona leads the team with 16 tallies followed by Drew Brooks as the freshman has 11 markers through the team's first six games. Judy has played every minute in goal this season for Shenandoah, as he has stopped 67 shots sent his way and allowed 44 goals for a 60.4 save percent.
ALL-TIME SERIESThis will be the first matchup between the Privateers and the Hornets. The last time that Maritime took on a team out of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference was in 2006 when the Privateers fell to Guilford by an 11-7 score.
HEAD-TO-HEADUP NEXTMaritime's next game will see the Privateers trek to Danbury, Connecticut to take on the Colonials of Western Connecticut State on Wednesday, March 12 for a 7 p.m. start. After tomorrow's game, Shenandoah returns to Virginia to open up Old Dominion Athletic Conference play against Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m.
