THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime football team will head back on the road this weekend in search of its first victory in ECFC play as the team takes on Anna Maria for a 3 p.m. matchup in Paxton, Mass.

Maritime enters off a shutout loss to the Husson Eagles last weekend, while Anna Maria comes in off of a rough loss as well to the hands of Castleton State a week ago.

ALL-TIME SERIESMaritime is unbeaten against the AMCATs of Anna Maria, beating them in all five of their matchups in program history. Last season the Privateers knocked off Anna Maria by a 35-24 score on Reinhart Field to start off ECFC play in 2013.

Kyle Gardner (Amityville N.Y./St. Anthony’s) ran all over Anna Maria with 221 yards and also had a pair of touchdowns.
Greg Caneparo (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet) was second on the team with 92 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown run.

On defense,
Hugh O'Brien (Westbury, N.Y./Westbury) and
Nick Coffiey (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) led the team with 11 tackles each. O'Brien had three tackles for a loss in yardage, including a seven-yard sack.
Chris Klass (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet) also blocked a kick in the matchup.

STACK THE BOXThe leader of the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference in rushing touchdowns is Chris Bettano of Anna Maria with seven on the season. The Maritime defense will be asked to do something that no other opponent has been able to accomplish this season, keep Bettano out of the end zone.

ROOKIE STRENGTHFreshman
Matthew Murphy (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) has used his strong left leg to lead the ECFC halfway through the season with a 62.7 yards-per-kickoff average. Thus far on the season he has 1,756 yard on 31 kickoffs.
