TROY, N.Y. (March 24, 2012) – The Maritime men's lacrosse team lost to non-conference opponent Potsdam St. Saturday up at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Upstate New York by the final score of 18-7. The loss drops the Privateers to 1-8 on the season, while the Bears improve to 3-1.
Maritime was led by senior

The game started with the Privateers scoring twice and then taking a 3-2 lead at 2:57 of the first. Potsdam fought back to take a 5-4 lead at 9:29 of the second and brought a narrow 8-5 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Bears completely owned the second half, scoring four times in the third and six in the fourth to earn the win.
Senior Peter Pike (Watertown, N.Y.) led all players with five points (three goals and two assists), while junior Kyle Nicholas (Syracuse, N.Y.) chipped in with a goal and three assists and sophomore Jared Flath (Dexter, N.Y.) had two goals and two assists. Senior Ryan Paparella (Whitesboro, N.Y.) also had a hat trick with three goals. In goal, senior Mike Quinlan (Buffalo, N.Y.) made seven saves in 51.5 minutes for the victory.
Maritime returns to action Wednesday night, when the Privateers play host to Skyline Conference opponent Mount St. Vincent. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
