GREAT NECK, N.Y. (March 14, 2012) – The Maritime men's lacrosse team lost to rival Kings Point, 13-7, Wednesday night at the Mariners' Captain James Harvey Tomb Field. In defeat, the Privateers fall to 1-5 on the season, while USMMA improves to 3-2.

Kings Point's Michael Ackerman led all players with seven points (four goals and three assists), while Jeff Harty also scored four times. Joseph Purecell and Tyler Spaulding each recorded two goals apiece, while Matt Cowels rounded out the scoring. Three players tied for the team-led in groundballs with three each: Sean Sheehy, Ryan Mulligan and Kevin Dwyer. Goalie Matt Kantor got the win, playing the first half and making three saves. He gave way to Alex Peyreigne in the second half, who made four saves to preserve the victory.
Maritime returns to action on Saturday, when they travel up to Buzzards Bay, Mass. to take on Massachusetts Maritime. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Buccaneers' Clear Harbor Stadium.
