THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2012) – This past Saturday was a cold and windy day, but Maritime went to Long Island ready to play. Over 50 rugby players were present to play their Varsity and JV Rugby contests against Division II Hofstra.
From the first kickoff, the Maritime forwards dominated the day with fierce hitting and tight rucks and mauls. Hofstra scored early off a third phase play and then again in the middle of the first half. Maritime's fitness played key in the second half, however, and Privateers had three trys and two conversions to seal the victory and Hofstra's fate. “I could not be prouder of the team,” said head coach Bob Wolf.
