Rugby Defeats Bard, 33-10, Sunday On The Road

        ANNANDALE-ON-HUSDON, N.Y. (Sept. 30, 2012) – This past Sunday, the Maritime rugby team defeated Bard College, 33-10, in Empire Downstate action. The win moves the Privateers to 1-1 on the season, while Bard also drops to 1-1.
 
        The Raptors were coming off a 48-0 win over Drew University and gave Maritime all they could handle. The Privateer ruggers played a complete forward and back game, counter-attacking and attacking. Bard scored first, but Maritime quickly responded with a try by sophomore Frank Roseto (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore), who outran the Raptors' wing.
 
        Maritime dominated the line-outs and scrums. It was an impressive performance by the Privateers.  Senior Peter Meyer (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) scored two tries, while senior Brian Delano (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman), junior John Furnari (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edward R. Murrow) (Brooklyn, N.Y. /Edward R. Murrow), and senior Craig Harkins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketchum) each had one try, apiece. Harkins also kicked a field goal for thee points for Maritime.
