THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 19, 2011) – The Maritime Rugby team travelled to Montclair State University on Sunday and lost its Metropolitan New York Rugby Football Union showdown by the low score of 18-3. The setback drops the Privateers' record to an even 1-1 on the season.
The two teams were evenly matched, but Maritime's penalties kept the squad moving backwards. The ruggers extraordinary defensive play only let in two Montclair trys on the day. The offense just wasn't there in the contest.
Next week, Maritime opens its home scheduled against the #5 team in the nation, Molloy College. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Reinhart Field.
