THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2010) – Sporting new uniforms yesterday, the Privateers hosted Bard College at Reinhart Field and provided an excellent day of team execution and sportsmanship. Maritime won, 60-8, to improve to 5-3 on the season.
During this perfect day of sun and fun, seniors Pat Alfisi (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) and Peter Rose (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) as well as junior Justin Basset each had two try's apiece, followed by junior Peter Paulson, and seniors William O'Neil, Anthony Maiello (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) and Nicholas Scilian try's.
Senior Bobby Welsh had a record four conversion kicks to end Maritime's brilliant play. Bard's scoring consisted of one penalty kick and one try ran in during loose play.
Privateer coach Bob Wolf was very pleased with his team's performance. "All 38 of our players were able to contribute with both a sportsmanship demeanor and physical dominance,” he remarked. “I could not be more proud of this team's effort.”
For his part, Coach Wolf received the water bucket shower from his team, a tradition usually reserved for football.
