Rugby Defeats Drew University, 14-6, On The Road Sunday

10/18/2010 4:02:51 PM

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 18, 2010) – The Maritime rugby team defeated Met-N.Y. Rugby Football Union opponent Drew University, 14-6, on Sunday at Ranger Stadium in Madison, N.J. The win improves the Privateers' record to 4-3 on the season, while the Rangers fall to 0-5.

Maritime dominated the scrums and line-outs. Seniors Pat Alfisi (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) and Nicholas Sicilian (/) had great individual efforts for the Privateers, both scoreing trys by diving through aggressive opposition. Senior Bobby Welsh made the two conversion kicks, one of which was from the far corner – one of the most difficult kicks in rugby.

The Maritime ruggers take on Bard College this Sunday, Oct. 24, at home. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
